How Long Does CBD Stay in Your System?

If you’re getting ready to add a CBD oil supplement to your daily wellness program, one question you may be wondering is: how long will CBD stay in my system? The short answer is: it depends on how your body processes it, but generally between 1 and 2 weeks is a typical range for most people.

CBD products stay in different people for different durations depending on a number of factors. Your metabolism, the amount of CBD you take, how often you take it, and even what times of the day you take CBD will all impact how long the various cannabinoids remain working in your body.

Let’s explore some of the common questions we hear about how long CBD stays in your system, including whether or not THC-free CBD Oil and CBD Capsules, or products containing THC such as Full Spectrum CBD Oil, could affect the results of something like an employment drug test.

Does CBD show up on a drug test?

Every day, thousands of Americans are drug tested, most often for employment reasons. For some like teachers, medical professionals, and government employees, drug testing is a fact of life. Others get drug tested as part of an employment application process. It’s not surprising that you may be concerned that adding CBD Oil to your daily supplement regimen could affect the results.

Except in extreme cases, most routine employment drug testing is looking for chemical or natural compounds such as THC – the cannabinoids found in marijuana – or traces from heavy drugs. Because many employers have a zero-THC policy, you would likely be wise to stay away from full spectrum CBD products which can contain up to 0.3% THC – the legal limit for hemp-derived products. Though it’s a small amount, it could potentially throw a false positive and cause some people to fail a drug test.

THC-free Broad Spectrum Oil and CBD Capsules do not affect these drug test results because, well, most drug tests are not looking for CBD in the first place. And for good reason – it’s not a psychoactive drug!

Does CBD ever show up on a drug test?

Technically, a blood test could show a lot of things – not just CBD, but do you smoke? Did you drink last night? Are you at risk of heart disease? But if you’ve heard horror stories of people failing drug tests because of CBD, odds are they were the unlucky folks who purchased untested or cross-contaminated products.

If your CBD comes from low-quality isolates, it is possible that it contains trace amounts of THC. Similarly, cheaper CBD or CBD imported from overseas where the licensing, regulations, and health standards are much lower, can often become cross-contaminated with “hot” products containing THC. Ingesting such low-quality CBD truly is playing Russian Roulette – not only with your health and well-being but with your employment drug screening as well.

You know this, but we’ll say it anyway: you should really understand and know what you’re putting in your body. This is even more important when you have an upcoming or surprise drug test. Taking a Full Spectrum CBD Oil does not guarantee you’d fail a drug test, but the chance is certainly greater.

Looking for a much safer bet? Then you’ll want to stick with THC-Free Broad Spectrum Oil and CBD Capsules. You’re trading the additional potential benefits of THC for peace-of-mind, but hey – you deserve a little less worry in your life.
